Change the wording of the Rules
Then the rules need to be changed to reflect this. First paragraph, second sentence "The other 3 playoff spots are at-large and also based on overall record. Seeds 1 and 2 get byes in the first week of the playoffs." This needs to go, be redone, or what ever. If 983 to 795 if that much better, how is it that it's only one more victory point, where wins are wins. We should just take head to head out every week and just go against the whole league. A sub 500 team can beat out a winning record. I guess with the way the ball bounces I feel luck is a part of the game. |

6-7 is better than 7-6?

The first three spots are division winners, the next are at large based on over all record, the Wiseguys are 7-6 and Grey Conspiracy is in at 6-7? What am I missing? |

Wiseguys are in. Lets through options out for defense, I agree for such a large portion of the roster not a lot points are generated I like the fact that they are individual players, but maybe we need to go to a more team approach? What do yous guys think? I'll try to read your posts between beers at the beach. |

Free Agency
This kind of goes with the records issue, the other way. What is a worse record 7-4 .636, or 7-5 .583. The reason I ask is that free agency if bids are tied it goes to the team with the worse record. 10/29 three teams bided on Ted Ginn Jr. one team was 12-2 the two others were 7-4 and 7-5. The bids were all the same and the player went to the 7-4 team and not the 7-5. For this player I'm not upset, but how does it work in the future. |

What has been said is pretty much all true. To be honest with you I never really wanted Brady or McNabb, I was trying to up the price in the auction and got stuck. I guess their are a lot worse players to get stuck with.
Would I have traded a player for a song to another team that I did not know. No
I guess on some lists McNabb might be a top 5, the two I just looked at had him rated 9 and 12, Orton 35 and 43. As for him being drafted in the third round in another league, thats other leagues. The 12 man league I participated in he went in the 6th round 4th pick, website crashed after the 12th so I have no info on Orton
As the discussion I had with Dave Sunday am, the only thing FA would have done was a chance for me to get Cassell, before the first game, my guess is that his value has gone up. I should have got him during the auction but was looking to fill out my starters first, once the money ran low.
Before the season I viewed McNabb as a one week starter, week 4 NE bye. If Brady scores 0 and walks away healthy, even with McNabb's game, Brady would still be the starter for a while, I spent a third of my allowance on him.
I looked at Orton the same way a bye week starter.
I like Olsen, being new to an auction I probably waited to long to pick up a TE, Olsen was not the highest I had ranked, but he is one I liked. I had the TE form Denver last year in another league and I had Olsen ranked above him.
Bottom line I made the trade. I was not under the influence nor did I have a gun to my head. Did I ask for other player's from Dave yes. This is what it came to. As I told Dave Sunday Night when he called I'm cool with it. Was it a bad trade for me, in hindsight yes.
It was not our intention to scam anyone. A friend called and I answered.
It's my bed to lay in and I have no problems with it.

As far as league rules states, under no ties, first tie breaker is points by defensive starters. Does this mean the Wiseguys are 3-0? Way to go kid a file will be sent in the cake from da Boss. The Don |

Good luck to all, until next year.
Good luck to all in the playoffs. Fat Tony has been retained as our head coach, but his old staff is now finding it hard to breath under water, with their new shoes. We have brought our new coaches out of hiding, I mean retirement like 'Shank' DeTorso, Jimmy 'Gentleman' Burke, Stilleto Mancuso, Leo 'I don't know Hoffa' Lenardo. In charge of player additude is Frank 'wack'm' Nunzio. All leaves to Miami for the winter have been cancelled, except for business. Management felt we needed to bring the old school additude out of our young players, next year we will be ready. Hope everyone has a great holiday season and good health in the new year. The Don |

Will it really help?
Yes there might be a few players to pick up by free agency, but very few to make a impact. The draft this year was fun, but with owners not having need or interest, it lacked a little. What if we kept a max of 15 players on a roster, this would protect a teams long term starters and key back-ups, while adding a lot of talent into the draft pool. This would allow teams to select veteran players along with rookies, which might help teams build teams faster, and bring the whole league in for the draft. Since this is a keeper league the draft can be held any time after the NFL Draft, instead trying to get in before the season beginning when we all have other leagues going on. Just a thought. |

Trade
While I respect everyone's desire to trade, it tends to be one teams plea to gain an edge over the other by getting more than what they are giving up. Just look at the NFL - how often do you see trades happen? Definetly less than what we have done in our league to this point in the season. As for free agents, I don't think the idea is to pick up a player through free agency and expect him to be an immediate starter or to be an automatic top 10 producer . . . the idea is to see the potential movement of a team to include/develop a player into a future star. I know from my offseason acquisitions (Suggs, Lloyd, T. Jones) my team has become deeper and more improved (except for the move I made to pick up AJ Feeley - ouch!). Just from my trade to get Mason for Jones, I have a weekly starter with a bunch of upside potential. If you will see by my tiny quid total, I seemed to be the only (overly) active aggressor for offseason pick-ups.
Again, I state my case for "No Changes"! Let's keep the vision and see how things go! |

Draft Order Questions
I guess I need a clarification on the draft order. It will be a lottery system of the top 5 teams and the bottom 5 teams? So dropping players in number do nothing to move draft positions? If I was to drop everyone on my team do you then pick first? Will we know our draft positions before July 15th, when rosters are due to be cut down? Finally when is the draft to be held? Summer is busy season at work and I don't get a lot of time to think about this shit. |

Free Agency and Quid.
Personally I like the idea of a free agent period, if it is handled the same way free agent pickups are during the season. My first fear is that it would dry up the draft pool, but I don't think that we are talking about to many tranactions for that to happen. Should we even think about a first cut date for our teams to release players? Maybe not this year. As to those who blew their quid in transactions and trades yes to the rebait to the expenses paid out by teams to bring up their quid total. But the beginning deposit of quid needs to drop. I would say to 50. |

The kits seem to come in handy as the draft progresses and handwriting seems to dwindle. They are readable and easy to use. Set them up at the table and go. Although having cards for your team sounds like fun. Will go with what ever system will work best at your house. |

The Don does not usually travel to private residences to conduct business, but Fat Tony will accompany him and Nunzzio says their is a clear line of sight. Definately sounds more economical and comfortable, and I don't think there is a problem waiting for Cliff from one of the Charlotte Clans, sounds like the latest we would get started is 8:00 and that sounds great. Smoking lounge sounds like it would work. Definately will need some fool proof maps to get out there. Sounds like we can make it official soon. Suckers. |

Good Tidings and Cheer
The Don brings good tidings and cheer to his new league mates, just like the fat bastard in December. First I believe I have made it possible that I could leave about 5:00 on Friday night. So this could make the draft start much earlier. Second after discussing the situation with Don Greenberg, of the Chapel Hill Crew, We can have a draft on neutral ground at Zog's. Talking with jd the OCFL has had drafts up there before. We would have the back corner by table 4 and can place the draft board on the ESPN sign. I'm sure we can make an offer to the Greenberg family for a beverage special. Business is generally slow until about 10:00, when we would be wrapping up. If I remember correctly we had a draft in that corner, everyone used the pool table for their desk, it was crowded, but there was 12 teams instead of 10 and two teams brought extra people(Thundering Turds and where ever the hell Deric was from). Bottom line is I think it would work, its close, its known, and like my favorite kind of woman, its available. Pass this one around. Krauss |

Fat Tony's internet skills are not as good as his trigger finger, or as smooth getting around the antipasta. The Durham Crew is in favor of a head coach, sounds like a kicker, 17 week season still sounds short, 4 teams in the playoffs, keep out the Westies, draft 8/24, 9/2 or 9/3, we will be back from Miami by then. As for a name how about the Lombardi League hoisting the Rooney trophy. Or Pappa Bear George Hallis(I think thats right). Just thoughts time for some calamari marinara down by the pool. See you gavones in soon. The Don |
